Monsoon Arrives A Day In Advance

Monsoon arrived in Chandigarh a day in advance. This was confirmed by Meteorological Department Director Surinder Paul.

So far, 166.4 mm rainfall has been recorded in the city in June. Paul said rain and the cloud cover would remain for next 48 to 72 hours. Heavy showers are expected in next 48 hours. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature remained at 25.3 degree Celsius.

However, the relative humidity level came close to the 100-per cent mark, with the maximum level of humidity recorded at 97 per cent.

Met Dept issues advisory

In the meantime, the Meteorological Department has issued an advisory, asking the authorities to clean seasonal drains and manholes to avoid flooding. A flood-like situation was witnessed last year when 123 mm rainfall lashed the city in a few hours.
