Services: The Blood Bank Society, Chandigarh is a non profit,non governmental agency working since 1964 in the field of motivation of Voluntary Blood Donation. The Blood Bank Society (BBS) Chandigarh (a Society registered under the Societies Act, 1860) was established in the year 1964 at the behest of the Head of the Blood Transfusion Department at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PGI), Chandigarh and Mrs. Kanta Saroop Krishen, its Hon’rary Secretary for over forty years. Set up as a motivational body, the Blood Bank Society, was manned entirely by volunteer housewives, who took up the task of creating of awareness about voluntary blood donation.
